sponsored: mahabis

One thing that I love in my every day to day life is comfort. I love the glitz and glam just as much as the next girl, but I'm happy with comfortable shoes and a loose tee. So when mahabis.com contacted me to try out their shoes, I was so in. I got the Sala Stone color because these are just too awesome to leave  behind. Best of all? These babies come with an attachable sole so you can wear them outside.
Oh, and one more thing? All my followers get 15% off their order with their order when you use code  IGXinsta86.

#instantdorkoriginal : rediscovering San Francisco

I love to take photos, and one thing I always find myself saying is, "I need to go out more". Honestly, I don't go out as much as people think I do. But when I'm out, I'm out for a while. Recently, I went out with my best friend Brian. We went to Sutro Baths and Slacker Hill. We had to cut our adventure short since I wasn't feeling well, but it was such a great time. My friend Brian is also a photographer, you can check out his work here.

#instantdorkat (insert location here)

Growing up traveling wasn't really a thing I'd ever do. My mom once told me that she went to Machu Picchu once and to Puerto Vallarta, but she never did much traveling. My dad went to Acapulco and other parts since he worked for Coca Cola in Mexico. Once I turned 21, I started analyzing my life. I hadn't done anything. I dropped out of college, I worked 40 to almost 50 hours a week and just spent time with my family. I wasn't happy with my life at all.

My friend Rosario had moved away from home at 20. She moved from one end of the country to the other. She worked at Disney World and she was learning to be independent. I always dreamed of traveling, I wanted to escape my own reality and immerse myself somewhere else.

When I turned 21, I was dead tired. I felt like all I was doing was working and working and going no where fast. I was promoted to Supervisor and that just meant more hours at work and no weekends off. I started going out with my friends more often. Rosario had moved back to California and we were reacquainting ourselves to each other.

One place that is always made magical in movies is New York City. I planned a trip, but the plans and my budgeting failed me. So the next year, my plans were to go to New York City with my younger sister and one night after scouting for the cheapest flight, I bought our tickets. It was such an amazing moment. Me, Susy, the girl who had only gone to Mexico once was going to New York! That was the first vacation I took and funded all by myself.

I stayed in a loft half of my stay in NYC, I also walked all the bridges. I ate pizza, I sat in Times Square, I went to the library, I walked down 5th Avenue. I saw the iconic plaza, ate a nasty hot dog, I got lost, marveled at the giant Empire State building, saw Lady Liberty, rode in a subway and died with the heat. It was magical. It was dirty. It made me long to come back. It made me appreciate home.

In these past 4 years since my trip to NYC, I’ve made it a mission to go someplace I’ve never been to, at least once a year. Even if it is in my own state. Small same day adventures, I decided, would count. Since then, I’ve gone to Seattle, Los Angeles a couple of times, Pismo Beach, South Lake Tahoe, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Yosemite, Santa Cruz, Napa, and many new places that I have discovered or rediscovered in San Francisco and Oakland.

I am not completely done with my reevaluation of my life but I am much happier with it.

Closet Clear Out : the scoop

This weekend was fantastic!

Every quarter or so, Poshmark has such a thing called Closet Clear Out and once you reduce your price by 10% or more, the people who liked the item will be notified and get reduced shipping for an hour.

This President's Day weekend was amazing for me sales wise and here's the result of dropping prices and accepting offers. Since I'm going to vacation next month, I'm trying to save as much money as I can so I won't be tight while enjoying myself. My flight and stay was paid with money that I've saved up from selling and it feels so good to do something I love and see it take me somewhere, literally.

Here are a few tips on getting some sales and selling :

  • Lowball offers: Always counter. Yes, the offers are unrealistic sometimes, but just close the app, take a deep breath and remember, it's business not personal.
  • Advertise: use social media to put you and your items out there! Make yourself known and get that money.
  • Relist: If your item is already to your lowest price, relist it high and drop it low.
  • Bundles: They sell! I sold 2 bundles and they were awesome.
  • Strategic price drops: price drop at a time when you know people are on the app. For this, you have to know your followers and your closet peak times.

That's all I have for now. Did anyone else have a great CCO? If you have any other tips, let me know! I'd love to try new things to get more exposure.

business cards

One step that I have been avoiding since starting to sell online has been business cards. I just thought them to be for "real" businesses and I would always say that what I'm doing was just a hobby.  But in order for others to see me as a real business, I have to see myself as one first.

I bought these business cards on Vistaprint along with some thank you cards.  I'm not going to say that I find it both intimidating and a bit humorous that I have business cards, I'm just much more laid back and you wouldn't think that I'd have any type of cards. But I am so excited to put them to use. I'm trying to keep myself on task, because everyone knows that the first six months to a year of starting anything new is hard, but this is where I'm starting to see that it's so worth it.

I'm chasing my daydream with all I have, and so far it's been a great adventure.

#marcbeauty

Guess what came in the mail for me this week? Yup, my Marc Jacobs highlighters. I'm kinda excited to try these out since they're neutral colors. I'll post a full review later this week. I love getting free items to review, if you do as well, just comment your favorite brand and I'll give you a referral link.

Can you guys guess my mood lately?
It's been raining here in California and while it's causing accidents ( please be careful everyone ) I kinda feel Spring is closer than ever.  Days are getting longer and I'm even more anxious to go out and see what life can bring. But with Spring comes color, so I thought I'd bring some colors and patters to the post today, plus, it's Friday!

  Enjoy your weekend everyone.

4 year Poshaversary

4 years ago on the 11th of this month I signed up for Poshmark and it's been quite a journey since then.

When I first started using the app, Poshamark was pretty small still. It had barely started growing and gaining momentum and exposure. I wasn't very active on the app and only shares and posted sporadically. I signed up for a few other sites and I didn't quite like them for whatever reason. By 2014 I was posting more regularly and even went to my first ever PoshFest. I met so many people, some that I now talk to from selling strategies to family commitment. Poshmark has been a great platform for me to widen my views on achievement and it's community has a strong #husltgame.

It's 2017 now and it's been 4 years. I've gone from selling 2-4 packages a month to selling 20-50 a month( although, I do get my slow months and it can be 15 packages a month ). I've attended 3 PoshFests and made more friends and met my PoshCrushes. This year I'm hoping to be more involved and expand beyond what I've already done. Poshmark has given me the platform and I want to take advantage of all the things I've learned there and put them to use.

My goal this year is to grow and to keep growing and learning. I get so much from watching other PowerPoshers succeed and telling other sellers their stories and struggles and how they overcame them. But one thing that I keep hearing is to take the leap of faith. So, slowly but surely, I'm going to the edge of the cliff and taking that leap. I've just ordered my business cards and if you check my header, I re-made my logo, too. There's so much I want to do, but for now, I just want to let everyone know that with time and hard work, things will happen.

the selling life

I've got to say that this weekend has been pretty good to me. I've been trying to keep my selling a high priority. I've been editing my cover shots and shipping as quick as I can. I've sold 10 items this week and that's pretty big for me since December was my low month. My thought beginning this year was to be more active in my small business, in all aspects. So far, it's paying off.

I follow a lot of resellers from all platforms; Amazon FBA, eBay, Poshmark, Vinted and even their own boutiques and I'm learning new things but more than anything, what I'm taking out of everything is if you work hard enough, if you make connections and lots of elbow grease, you can really make your business grow.

PS : do any of you sell your own clothes or resell? Any amazing finds lately?

new year, new routine

New year, new me.  That's the motto for some people this year. I've decided to just keep going with what I have and give it my all. Be more organized so I can have more time to laze around. Yes, very ambitious, I know. But at least I'm being truthful.

I signed up for the gym. ( sigh ) Cliche, but still it's something I did. I'm not doing it so much for losing weight, but more to be healthy. In order to motivate me I bought these shoes. I got them for a great price over at Postmark and I just can't wait to wear them.

I've done some retail therapy and I might just have to do a outfit post soon. Until then.

new year expectations

I'm a little late for writing a happy new year to anyone reading this. Fifteen days late, but this month has kind of been going quick for me.

I kind of want to do a quick review of my expectations for this year. I want to focus on finishing what I've started. There's always a whole lot of people starting things in the beginning of the year and not finishing it. But this year, I want to keep on doing what I'm doing and not stop. Hone my skills and flourish.

That means focusing more on my photography, on my selling and online presence. And personally, I want to travel at least four times this year. I want these travels to feel like vacations and not worry about anything. So far, I think I can do it.

I'm cleaning up my inventory for my shop and I am slowly but surely getting an organizational system I can keep up with. And there will be a "just in" series, you can say, that will come to the blog to show what you can buy in the shop.

I have ideas, but I will keep them underwear's for now since I want to keep it to myself if I don't go through with them. Until then!
