shadows of the day

It was a very sobering day for me on Thursday. I learnt that Chester Bennington, the lead singer for Linkin Park committed suicide.

My mind was abuzz with feelings, new and old, with song lyrics, with a kind of hurt that was unexpected.  When I was grieving my mom, I dissected the lyrics in most of their songs and I felt connected to them. Chester's voice helped me develop and overcome my emotions and to know that he committed suicide makes me so very sad.

I guess, I just want to say that, ceasing to exist may seem very alluring. Being away from your hurt, your emotions that seem to be jumbled up may keep the pain away... or shutting out all the hurt and never having to hurt again seem like the best idea.  But someone will always hurt when you're gone. Someone out there can relate to you in one way or another. You aren't alone. And so I implore anyone who has those thoughts to seek help. You aren't the only one who's felt helpless before. We are human, not almighty.

For all those who need it, here's the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
